Shopee Taiwan data scraping by Product Data Scrape |
The client
The client is "an authorised distributor managing approximately 200 products in Taiwan." It sells through its own official shop and supplies selected retailers. The brands it represents expect stable prices across channels. But on Shopee Taiwan, the client's team kept finding the same products sold by unknown shops at lower prices, which hurt both its own sales and its relationship with the brands.
The team asked Product Data Scrape to evaluate a Shopee Taiwan product data service to monitor these products.
The challenge
Many sellers per product. A popular product could have 10 to 30 listings from different shops.
Variant listings. One listing might bundle several sizes or colours, each with its own price.
Campaign noise. Shopee runs frequent campaigns and vouchers, making it hard to tell a policy breach from an approved promotion.
Listing titles in Traditional Chinese with inconsistent product names.
The solution
Step 1: Product master
The client shared its 200 products with brand, product name, barcode, size and recommended retail price. Product Data Scrape added Traditional Chinese search terms and model numbers for each.
Step 2: Daily search and match
Each day, collectors searched Shopee Taiwan for every product and captured all matching listings with listing ID, shop name, shop type (official Mall shop or regular shop), variant prices, stock, sold indicator, rating and campaign tags. Matches were scored by brand, model, size and image similarity.
Step 3: Policy rules
Each listing price was compared with the recommended price. Listings below a threshold (for example 10% under) were flagged as breaches unless they carried an approved campaign tag agreed with the client.
Step 4: Seller classification
Shops were classified as authorised (on the client's list), known retailer, or unknown. Unknown shops selling many of the client's products were highlighted as possible grey-market sources.
Step 5: Alerts and reports
The client received a daily Excel report, a dashboard with trends, and same-day email alerts for new unknown sellers and large price drops.

| Unknown sellers identified |
64, of which 22 traced to a single supply leak |
With evidence from the daily reports, the client worked with its brands to trace a supply leak to one wholesale customer and adjusted its distribution terms. Price breaches fell steadily, and the client's official shop recovered share in its top products.
Phase two: adding momo
After three months, momo was added for the same 200 products. This showed that some breaches on Shopee were reactions to promotional prices on momo, which helped the client coordinate promotions across both platforms.
How the daily report is used
Each morning the client's e-commerce manager opens a one-page summary: new breaches, resolved breaches, new unknown sellers and products with the largest price drops. Breaches by authorised retailers are handled by the account team with a direct call. Unknown sellers are investigated with the brand, using test purchases where needed to identify the batch codes and trace the supply source. Over time the report also revealed which products were most attractive to grey-market sellers, which informed allocation decisions for future shipments.
Lessons learned
A clean product master is essential. Barcodes, model numbers and Chinese search terms made matching reliable.
Campaign tags prevent false alarms. Agreed promotions should not be treated as breaches.
Seller patterns matter more than single listings. Unknown sellers carrying many products often point to one supply source.
